Alix Olson

By David Massengill

Thank heaven for little queer grrls; if Americans didn't have activist art by poets like the Sister Spit troupe and bands like Le Tigre, we might settle for a society where Britney's a role model and Queer As Folk's all gays can ask for. Meet another member of this phalanx of progressive females: N.Y.C. spoken word artist Alix Olson, an OutWrite Poetry Slam Champ who cut her teeth on the mike at the immortalized Nuyorican Poets Cafe. She's a fierce battler against the NRA, "women's" magazines, gender rigidity, and injustice in general, and though tonight's performance might be more rant than art, she should seize your attention. Tractor. 8:30pm.
